I kid you not, my work building burned down.

Over Christmas break, we received word that our work building burned to the ground on the morning of December 26th. So crazy.

The good news is no one was hurt, we keep all of our files online, so we lost nothing too valuable. But I have been working at home all month, with no plan to return to a office building until March 1st. Which means I am spending a lot of days in my pajamas! ha! Fun, but I'm still purchasing items here and there getting ready to go back to the work world.

Found a cute belt at Target in the similar tan color - looking at purchasing soon a white button up from American Eagle - long and lean - would look great with the belt and boots and skinny jeans!So, still shopping like crazy and can't wait to get outside the house again!

Had my daughter snap a quick pick before running out the door to hubby's Christmas party - this ended up fitting better than I could have imagined. From VictoriasSecret.com Sequin Sweater dress in black (the 19" from waist one)

The only thing I could have wished for different is some kind of zipper or button in the back, was hard to pull over hairdo, but pretty comfy and pretty!

Half-Day Friday is always so short - still getting used to it- Found this burnt-orange to at Ross the previous week just hanging all alone for only $4.00... snapped it up so quick!

Mondays Outfit (Getting behind, on my last 2 weeks of my first quarter back in school!)

Originally inspired by this pin, I liked the blazer and blue and grey - felt like a great work outfit!

The initial fitting didn't go so well upon execution- I loved the blue with the black, but once paired with the grey slacks I felt undone, a bit of pajamas on the bottom with the blazer on top or something. Had to run out the door to my youngests orthodontics appointment, but the entire hour I felt uncomfortable.. not worth it to feel frazzled with untucked blue shirt over grey pants and a blazer.

So after taking her back to school I swapped the grey pants out with black pencil pants, unbuttoned the blue shirt and added a pink cami underneath. I think the blue button-up just isn't the right fit (it button just odd enough to feel like one too many buttons is buttoned, but when you unbutton it, it shows too much). Love the color, just not a good fit on me.

I wanted to add blue slacks into my wardrobe, and found these last year - but I haven't really found a good way to wear them. I wore them once last year with a white t-shirt and cream open-toed heels. 'twas okay.
Tried again today with sweater and nude pumps... not feeling it either.

So what are other options for dark blue slacks?

KeyChain Necklace

I've worn this necklace quite a bit since I "made" it. Wanted to get a better picture than the last picture I took a few weeks ago (which was on the blurry side).

Found this dragonfly key chain on clearance at Fred Meyers and removed the large Ring, opened the jump ring up with scissors, and clamped around this old necklace I had.

Old is new again!

It's a great length and a good weight - I'll be keeping my eye open for other fun keychain pieces. Imagine the possibilities and gifts you can make!

Not in Love with the outfit today though - I like the idea of this skirt, but think it's too long for me - I need to have it hemmed up I think. Quick shot as I was leaving work today.

My daughters junior high choir had a holiday concert today at the local highschool during the holiday-craft bazaar.

Decided on comfy outfit for all the walking and standing I knew we'd be doing (arrive half an hour early, hour concert standing in the middle of the commons) and then shopping, lunch, more shopping, coffee, library and finally home.

I love this Olivia Palermo look spotted in Glamour a while back - pinned it and have been searching for a good white bow tie blouse ever since.

I haven't found the right duplicate - I like the low-neck, I hate real silk (I'm far too-klutzy to maintain it) - and finally decided to just recreate the look wearing a spin.

I found this MNG by Mango top at JCPenneys, similar minus the bow itself - decided to first try and recreate the bow with a scarf, but have really lucked out finding a scarf that color and material.

Spotted a long beaded necklace at BenFranklin crafts this weekend though and thought I could twist my own version with the necklace - I wrapped the beads in similar colored ribbon and ties a bow in the side and came up with this look:

A little bunchy, kept trying to fun in front of my count down timer on iphone LOL - close, but no cigar.

Ha- story of my life, when am I not running behind? I can never be "late" because I have to always get my daughter to school on time, so usually late is leaving at the absolute last second, shoes in hand, and forgetting the accessories I meant to wear today. Such is life, another day another necklace.

This actually a new black sweater I got from Macy's.com a week ago, and red pants from VictoriaSecrets.com a week ago as well. I envision it looking better with a) accessories and b) the camisole underneath looks bulky need one that isn't bunchy.

The red pants are not as pictured in the catalog or online - online they look like actual slacks material (I've purchased black slacks and pinstripe slacks from them before) but in reality they feel like khaki/docker pants material... not as expected, but okay.

I love How I Met Your Mother! One of the best sitcoms out there today. It's the next "Friends" in terms of characters that can play off each other so well.
Trying to aim in wearing something I've purchased but haven't worn yet - have a lot, I'm a bad shopper, but need to actually wear these items I buy. Been pinning items on Pinterest to help inspire the items I have.

Today opted for this top I found on sale at Kohls a while back - new label they're carrying called 212 Collection - cute stuff.

Another paper that is. I'm getting a hang of this work full time, school in the evenings and weekends all while balancing a house, husband and two kids! Boom baby!

But I am exhausted, I miss having a full length mirror, and after I finish this glass of wine I'm going to go konk the konk out.

I found this grey sweater at Marshalls last friday when I was shopping with my youngest. I liked the boat neck with buttons, gave me a retro vibe to it, so donned a headband to give my hair some retro-esque height :)

Man, I sure can get used to my office closing half-days on Friday - I am loving it! Since Friday my kids and husband had the day off, I was able to meet them for a Sushi lunch after work, and then went shopping with my youngest. My 2 girls are starting to become little clothing shoppers too!

So I also broke my right contact, in half! Was trying to just wash it last night and it slipped so i tried to grab it and caught it just right in my fingers and broke it in half. Oy-vey. Will be not-so rocking the old glasses for 3-5 business days.

These were cheap frames I picked up years ago as a back up pair, but when I got my new prescription this year, i opted to just put the new prescription on these and the contacts while I wore my regular frames... I don't really like these anymore, blargh.

And the hiking boot heel. Not practical but I am digging this style this fall.

For double animal print day I opted for this animal print dress I wore last month - I usually have done my zebra heels and leopard scarf, but I can't wear Jeans M-Th at my new job, so almost gave up todays inspiration until I saw this dress hanging in my closet and decided to go for it.

Not the same boots

These are the boots I showed up to work yesterday for Wear a Jacket over a dress day. First, I was annoyed because the zippers stuck and I had a hard time getting them up. Then I was getting sore feet for the 4" heels I didn't want to walk in all day... and then really didn't care for the light grey color as much since the jacket I wore was dark grey...

So... with a little lunch break down to Sears, I found a pair of boots on sale that fit my needs much better! Comfy and a darker grey.

And wore these the last half of yesterday! I crack myself up sometimes.

This is the jacket I wore - I am really wishing I bought a size Small last year instead of this medium.. definitely lost it's shape and feels so baggy and shapeless. Pondering a dose of hotwater washing to see if I can tighten it up a bit.. probably a bad idea but it's going in the give-away pile either way!

Half-Day Fridays.. Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun

Wrapped up the second week of my new job, and Thursday night my boss said we do casual Fridays since it's only a half day (Every Friday) anyways. YES! I love my new boss :)

I was happy to find a way to wear these shoe/boots to work - I don't have many options I can think of (that I currently own) to transition these boots into my work wardrobe, but when I saw them at Target last month I had to have them!

Casual Friday was a great ticket for this. Paired with a gray belted sweater vest and denim, some shinies (necklace and earrings) and done and done!

The half day gives me extra time by myself I don't normally have with a husband and two kids. I actually have the house to myself! I am doing a little freelance work for an editor, I do that on Fridays since I have time here. And then when it's my normal evening time I have school work still. So perfect for now!

Classics Versus Trendy

When I started blogging my outfits, I felt myself leaning towards always trying the trendier items. The problem I notice though is I buy the item, wear it once, and it rarely ever sees the light of day again. Which is probably why my closet and dressers are full of clothes, but I never find anything I want to wear. I have NEVER had this problem in the past.

When going for the Inspiration Calendars on Fab Finds Under $50, they help me think of new ways to wear clothes, but again I never wear that combination again.

When this week called for Classic Back and Khaki for Thursday, I was so giddy I could barely wait until today to wear this combo. I realized today I think I'm more team Classic. I want to be trendy, I try and be trendy, but something in my genes calls for classic looks.

Don't get me wrong, I still am a women who loves to shop and will still try new things, but now that I realize I lean towards Team Classic, I should really clean out my closets and get to putting pieces together that are more *me*.

I've always wanted a long plaid skirt, when I saw this one at Kohls last weekend I finally found my perfect color mix! Black base with purple and blue and white - I can think of a lot of options already!

Today was more of a running-out-the-door-frantic-mode-get-daughter-to-school-and-me-to-work-quick kind of day.... so paired with this purple sweater (which really needs some long necklaces and maybe bangles!) and black Naughty Monkey Slouch boots from last year.

Done and Done for today - really simple outfit, but with potential!

It's amazing how incredibly odd the weather in the Northwest is. We had a very bland summer that barely hit 70 all summer long (horrible really as summer is my favorite season!). But now that is is fall, approaching November, it's amazing that the skies have been pretty blue the past few days and have allowed to actually see the turning of the leaves... instead of the usual mush brown before falling to splatters on the ground.

Just thinking how thankful I am for the Northwest fall today as my news feed is filling up with friends in other parts already getting Snow. ack.

Outfits of the day unfortunately are looking more and more horrible - picture wise. I don't have a full length mirror at work any more, and the lighting in the bathroom at work isn't so great either. Ah well, I challenged myself to do this, keep thinking of new ideas and making sure I am posting them makes me feel less like giving in to the same outfits day after day, or just randomly shopping because I can't think of anything in my closet to wear.

Monday I brought out an old fall dress that is a few years old. Little below knee length, wrap style (so wore brown cami under it) and paired with brown sweater coat (a little chill in the air in the mornings) brown fishnet stocking and brown boots.

Sounds like an awful lot of brown, but the pattern on the dress is a lot of red and mustard yellow.
Since FAbfindsunder50 recommended navy and mustard, and I don't own anything I can pair like that, I had a choice to wear just something navy and maybe cream, or this dress which had mustard yellow.. the dress won out today since I err on the side of slacks most days.

Not so easy to see. It's old anyways, probably from Fred Meyer.

Outfit of the Day Post for Tuesday - Daily Double!
I was at Sears last night just because it's right down the street from my new work and found this purple top. It felt so fun, almost poncho-ey, but sweaterey.. it's' the wings!

One great perk of my new job I started this week: Friday half days! Pretty nice afternoon so far.
No casual days though, so have to be careful to not grab jeans on Fridays.

Fabfindsunder50.com inspiration calendar offered up Cream, Red, and Leopard today. One of the things I like about the inspiration calendar is that some days I don't know what to wear and this sometimes inspires to pair items together I never would have before.

This gold sweater I wore last week I never would have thought to pair with a red tank top underneath. To get the red pop for cream/red/leopard day, the tank gives a peek of color underneath and the red necklace ties it together better.

I paired with brown slacks, and peek of leopard/animal print shoes.

Thursday - Chunky Sweater et al

Inspiration Calendar recommended stripes with a chunky sweater, but I don't always have the latest trends -- I only own one striped sleeveless shell, so really couldn't find much to wear with it I wanted to Thursday.

But did grab the chunky sweater part, white button up, camel colored slacks with brown heels.

I lost a day

I was about to post my outfit for today and thought today was Tuesday, and realized it's really Wednesday and I already lost a day!
Busy-Busy at my new job, throw on top of that first week at new class so keeping up with all the reading assignments for first day and I'm just exhausted!
So bonus two outfits in one post! (It's okay they're all old, really).

Bow-tie blouse pulled out today, with black cardigan and dragonfly pin. Blue Suede shoes complete the bottom you cannot see.
Inspired by fabfinds outfit of the day, which called for the bow-tie blouse and skirt. My office is a little chilly, so I really have to be in the mood to wear a skirt, and since I wore a skirt yesterday, I opted slacks today.

I *just* wore this dress last week, but here it is again, inspired by casual dress, boots and scarf day. Same outfit, just added fall scarf. done!
It's all new again, day 3 of job.

First Day New Job - All outfits are new again!

One of the great things (For me) about a new job is that my wardrobe has never been seen before! I can wear an outfit I have worn previously, but no one knows but me *snicker*. This is good for my personality because I have a hard time wearing something twice (even in the same year!). I don't know where this came from, growing up I pretty much owned 1-2 pair of jeans, 1 pair of shoes, and a handful of tees and sweatshirts... maybe that is part of it, I had to wear the same things day after day, so now I just can't.

Inspired by fabfindsunder50 inspiration calendar, I wore a vest over my purple striped shirt (no full skirt as suggested since it's cold out and I err on the side of slacks most of the time).

I previously wore this shirt with more of a sweater vest/shell. So at least I've added a real vest into my wardrobe since then.

Last Day

Friday marked my last day of almost 4 years at the non profit I worked at. Monday starts my new management position I am, incredibly!, looking forward to.
For Friday and last day, I brought out a gold sweater I found at Ross recently and a peacock necklace I found at Forever 21 last weekend.
A fun blend of relaxing, casual (jeans and furry boots!) and party time at the Pub after 5!

Wrapping Up -- Final days

I have one day left of work tomorrow (Friday!) before I start my new job on Monday. It's been a great 4 years of learning, but I've reached the ceiling of my current organization and am moving to a company where I will manage others and lead the HR, I'm incredibly excited.

I'm wrapping up my first course back in college as well, and start my first day of my *real* first class next week (this past class was General Studies 200, been about 15 years since I was in college last! eep where did the time go?? and my first real class is Business Communications 275, feeling real now finishing up my bachelors!)

Last weekend was my birthday, and something I've wanted to do for a few years I finally did this weekend:

Red for my oldest daughter, blue for my youngest (their favorite colors). Hibiscus flowers two-fold. One is a small homage to my WoW guild I spent several years with before having to quit the game for personal reasons. And second, for the 2 times my husband and I have been to Hawai'i.

They are less red now!

On to my outfit - this sweater dress I picked up at Target over the weekend, fun purple-red color with brown tights and my brown naughty monkey detective boot I wore much last year.

I like the texture in the tights.

Tomorrow = jeans friday for my last day! Then to the Pub to celebrate! looking forward to the weekend before I start my new job, yay!

Fall is here, summer is gone, where did the time go? Over the summer my coworker went on a 3 month sabbatical to explore the country... instead of getting a temp early on, I was left to the majority of the office work myself. This made for a very busy bee that is just now slowing down at work.

On top of that, I decided to go back to school to finish my Bachelors, which has now made my nights and weekends pretty full.

AND, on top of that, I start a new job next week which means coming up a steep curve!

That's where I have been in a nutshell, but I do miss posting outfits - even if on my iphone horrible pictures in a mirror.

Today we went out to Sushi to celebrate an early birthday lunch for me. I really wanted to wear my animal print dress I found on clearance at Kohl's a few weeks ago for $9! Since fall is in the air, I paired the sleeveless shift dress with a black cardigan, black tights, and fun Simply Vera shoes.

I only had time to snap one picture, so the quality is not fab, but if it gets me back into outfit of the day posts, then so be it, I'll post because I love looking at clothing.

Bonus, a week or so ago, Kimberly had a layered outfit on her inspiration calendar, and it reminded me to pull out this oolllddd sweater coat I've had for 12 years. Works great for casual fridays when the office is cold..

My work is going through some restructure - crazy busy! Trying to put some time back in to Outfit of the day posts. I also have a closet full of clothes I've never worn before so trying to put those to good use. This outfit from an old chadwicks catalog has been one of my go to inspirations for a few years. I've done it as pictured, left, I've done it with same pants but red heels, dark grey pants with red heels, black tank with grey trousers, and now today I took the yellow red inspiration and went with red capris. These capris are a tad too long and wide, I think I want to hem them a bit (I cuffed a little to bring up) but I do like this for work on this 70degree day!

I woke up this morning with not 1, not 2, but 3 huge painful pimples on my forehead - little mini horns that hurt so bad! Out came the scissors and the bangs were made -- I never like bangs on me, my hair is so thin they never stay in place, but uggg why do I break out more in my 30's than I ever did in my teens???

Also, just washed a load of delicates yesterday and on the top of my basket was a kimono-esque top which reminded me of Fashion for Nerds Kimono inspired outfit she wore the other day.

I've been in a sweaters and jeans funk lately (well for a few weeks!) due to cruddy rainy weather (it's May! I want spring please!!) and being the only person in the office due to everyone else being away at a conference (literally, I was the only person in the office opting out of going to this Cross-Country Conference because I'm the only one with children/responsibilities outside of work).

Well it is Seattle, 40 days with no sunny day so far? Right about now my desire to dress up goes down the tubes and I'm barely functioning in sweaters and pants day after day after day after....

Well, yeah.

I jumped to the Fabfindsunder50 inspiration calendar past few weeks, but it hasn't been helping. Not in this funk. Today for example is a bold pant with a blazer.. I don't own bold pants and don't really wear my blazers.

So did some googling for "Rainy Day Work Wear" and found something that sparked my imagination to dig an old jacket out of the closet (I can't find its belt, so haven't worn it for that reason alone, geesh).

Almost forgot -- Saturday night went to some local bar with my mom and sister to see some band (Bullet Creek) do some country music.

Wanted to wear this dress I bought last year, but man the cut is much deeper than I realized and when I sat my boobs popped out! So threw a brown lace camisole underneath. Since it was still chilly and rainy by Saturday evening, I paired with bootcut jeans and my cowboy boots:

Fabfindsunder50 Inspirational Calendar has today's Inspiration "olive Green" and tomorrow "Classic Black and White". In honor of St Patrick's Day though (for the fun, spirit and avoid getting pinched!) I swapped green to tomorrow and classic black and white to today.

Well, then I realized I pretty much wore black and white yesterday, so then last minute I changed into a black sweater, with my black and grey slacks,, and black shoes with the white piping around the bow.

(The hardest part about dressing up for work, is there is only one boss who is casual and one coworker also mostly casual, motivation some days is nil!)

Seriously, can I have my hour back? Either that or I need to head to the doctor, because I'm just sapped of all energy.
Tuesday was Neutral Top, paired with a colorful bottom. The only red pants I have are Capris (and welcome to the Great NorthWET! it's pouring Tuesday as well) and a couple colorful skirts, but I was really in a pants mood.
I decided to go with my Dana Buchman for Kohls new Trousers - they look like slacks, but feel like jeans! Love them for work -

Oh. My. Goodness. PSA please take UTIs seriously! I ignored (well, not entirely true, I flushed with tons of water and cranberry pills) a uti for a week kept thinking it will go away soon... By friday my kidney started hurting so finally called the doc, couldn't get antibiotics until Saturday am so had to wait it out... Well that's when The FuN started. High fever and intense pain for DAYS! Missed a few days of work and then didn't even start feeling better really till Thursday

Looking forward to not wearing jammies every day again!

Wear a bright coat

Since it's rainy in WA (from now til June!) wearing my blue raincoat was easy, but trying to find something to wear under it was harder since I take my coat off at work... inspiration on outerwear I don't need, just innerwear LOL.

Since the coat was bright, I opted for other bright colors - yellow sweater and red necklace seemed pretty good mix - last I wore this was with white cami underneath, red shoes instead of black. I think I like the light colors and pop of red instead.

Tie Neck Blouse

Wednesday Inspiration was a Tie-Neck Blouse - I only own one, sort of, it ties at the neck at the side, last worn here.
I've worn it with black, I've worn it with white - so went with a camel/tan for Wednesday.

Two Inspirations Today

Happy March 1st! March means that much closer to spring, much closer to warm weather, and skirts and open toed shoes! I'm hit or miss in my office, if the sun is shining through the window, I get hot, if it's overcast, the airconditioner in the building is too strong and I freeze!

I wasn't looking forward to Outfit Inspiration for today "Wide Belt with a Skirt" because a) I don't normally like belts, and b) it's so cold most days for skirts.

I figured I'd give it the 'ol college try, and do some googling and see ideas for Wide Belt Skirt others have used, that's when I came across this cartoon pic and knew that's exactly what I wanted to wear!

Title says it all. Man. Some days my work is so long or tiring the last thing on my mind during the work day is to run to the bathroom and snap a picture. One day, one day. Maybe invest in a tripod, etc.

Arts and Crafts! Remaking some earrings.

I have a few pairs of earrings I purchased awhile back, but they were always just enough off to not love them as much as I knew I could.
So I finally buckled down and grabbed my toolbox and set to work for some minor repairs that make them fun and I love them now!

Earring Fix #1.
Peacock Earrings on clearance from Kohls, I never liked the colored beads on bottom:

After a quick shopping trip and $1.25 later, my favorite color and making these fancy peacocky!

2nd Fix: These dangly purple earrings and just too much black chains dangling on them for me, everytime I wore them I felt like you couldn't really see the purple which is the color I had really wanted:

And finally these purple beaded earrings, when I wore I felt like this black loop was just too big for me, when I looked in the mirror it did not look like I was wearing earrings til you looked down closer to the jaw line.

I replaced this loop with a smaller one, but then moved the tiny beads on the outside of these dangles and added to the top so they dangle near the hook - Voila!

I had youngest daughter get sick several days last week, and now oldest daughter was sent home sick today! In between I've had to spend 2hours a night at my oldests choir rehearsals until lasts nights performance!

Blargh, Blahhs, Crabby and Moody this week. So not in the mood to wear skirts, so the Inspiration Calendar I've been trying to follow has only gotten me so far.

Monday was wear a belted cardigan over a A-Line dress. I opted to wear a belted cardigan with trousers and maryjanes.

Tuesday was Perfect in a Pencil Skirt. Blahhs again (It's that time of the month, can you tell??) Opted for skinny jeans since those reminded me of a pencil, purple turtleneck and naughty monkey detective boot in black.

Wednesday was Classic with a twist. After much flinging of clothes around the closet I opted for a classic black sweater, jeans and a twist (or pop!) of Giraffe/Leopard heels.

Thursday, tomorrow, is something about pinning up a waterfall cardigan. I only have one, and I was originally planning on wearing it next week, but we'll see.

Ok off to clean my daughters mouse cage because she won't stop staring at me XD hoping for something more creative to come out of my closet soon, I like that atleast the inspirations each day give me some focus when I get up late and pull something together I haven't worn before -- getting my remixing in!

New Buys - floral skirt

I found this skirt at JC Penneys today (Also online for 6cents cheaper LOL!) and had to snatch it up!

The cream flowers on brown background help so it's not "super-obvious-spring-skirt" and the cute ruffle at the bottom raises a bit in the front!

While I can't wait to wear it this spring with strappy brown heels, I'm already picturing with my brown naughty monkey boots!

Maroon and Olive Thursday

FabFindsUnder50 inspiration calendar day 3 (On thursday) - Maroon and Olive.

I haven't worn this maroon sweater in a while, since December 2009! it feels too short, I have to keep pulling it down - I either shrunk it, or the other cami I paired it with worked better. Will have to figure out if it's time to get rid of it.

Paired with the green corduroys and some brown boots - felt a bit like a flower so wore with my flower necklace I got at Claires a year ago (which I noticed as there when I was there today buying a peacock cuff!)

Friday was Go Red for Women and wore a Red V sweater over black cami, jeans and black flats. That shirt definitely kept riding up so handed that over to my 11yo who Loves red and was very happy to get that hand me down!

Casual Saturday hanging out at home so just jeans, blue sweater and black flats again! Easy-Peasy!~

Tuesday's Inspiration (from FabFindsUnder50) was Ruffles.
This reminded me of the Pink Ruffle halter I had in my closet - some pearls and diamonds are all over it, so I haven't found a chance to wear it - Ruffle day was perfect!

FabFindsUnder50 has a month inspiration calendar which I love the idea of, but usually forget about most of the time. Monday night I sat wondering what to wear to work on Tuesday (the kiddos had Monday off - jeans and tennis shoes day!) and I remembered it was the first of the month and a new calendar was up - I decided to see what the theme was to see if it would give me inspiration.

2/1/2011 was Animal Print with a stripe. Hrmmm, what did I have animal print and stripes..
It hit me to mix my leopard scarf (which I hadn't worn yet) with zebra stripes! Semi - cheating, but it was my inspiration!

Scarf here. I originally wanted to tie it in my hair but it's much longer than I thought - this is wrapped around my neck and tied down.

I love Kate Beckinsale, she's so pretty in every movie I've seen her in. I love the 1940's clothing women wore, so romantic in comparison to jeans and sweatshirts I grew up in.

Movie theme week inspiration Day 2 is Nurse Lieutenant Evelyn Johnson from Pearl Harbor circa 2001. I love the line when the mechanics see her walking up in this outfit "that's not a standard issue uniform!"

I loved wearing this dress on Tuesday - I wanted to spin around, and I felt like I walked with more sashay in my swing just down to the restrooms!
I've worn this dress one other time, Mother's Day Tea with my girls last year... adn I stayed home in it and changed afterwards.

I Loved Tim Burtons take on Alice in Wonderland. This movie received 5 stars from me, and one of my first choices for my Movie Character Inspired Challenge. (That and I already own this maroon velvet coat which made it an easy choice!)

I was driving home Thursday night tossing the last vestiges of coffee into my mouth thinking "please don't spill coffee on my clothes." I then looked down and noticed I was wearing all shades of brown, so at least if I spilled the coffee probably wouldn't be noticeable.
Fortunately, no coffee was spilled!
I still can't decide if I like this skirt I purchased a little over a year ago. The cut is just wonky on the front/side to not be sure what's going on with it.

I like the fun pattern going on in the tights as well.

Oranges and browns

Typical Fall colors, but I wanted to wear these orange pin-stripe slacks I haven't worn in over a year:

I started with these brown slacks with the cream and orange stripe throughout them (Chadwicks). I thought of pairing with my cream shoes with brown heel, but the rainy muddy weather turned that idea off, so ended up with just classic brown pumps with the croc pattern in it (Mossimo).

Had some basics down, but then failed to figure out a great fashiony idea, so just grabbed my orange sweater I've worn a few times. I liked it paired with corduroys and suede jacket here and really liked it paired with my boots and jeans here, didn't quite like the pairing with the slacks and cami today.

I want to try this another day with a long khaki skirt and boots.

Movie Date!

Hubby got free tickets from work to see The Green Hornet this afternoon, inspired to go a little retro/Mod with my colorblock shift dress.. bummed the lighting is so horrible everything looks black!

The goal was to use the dress that is black around the neck, brown body, with a black loop around the waist area, pair with black leggings and brown boots - used a brown cardigan for the winter chill.

My boss was commenting on my boots today and I totally busted out in that song. *crickets* as no one else apparently watches as much TV at work as I do.

Trying to figure out how to take pics sans mirror, I need a tripod taller than the 6" one I had.. Right now balancing the tripod on a tipped over box, on the chess table wasn't quite stable enough.

After about a dozen attempts, the best I could do tonight - since I was just in a super comfy sweater, skinny jeans and my fuzzy boots, I wasn't looking for a super model spread - just a quick pic for my outfit-of-the-day.

Heading to snow this week, again. I like that we have such a casual work atmosphere (well 3 whole people in a non-profit setting) but makes it so hard to go against the grain and be the only one who dresses up most days. But I try. I have so many clothes in my closet I do want to wear more than just jeans every day.

Such a wonderful week off, it was hard to get back in the groove this week! I started off on Monday promising to do more posting, then by Wednesday lost focus again - between kids off to school in the morning, work all day, come home at night and make sure homework is on track, dinner, dishes, and downtime before bed, the day is gone before I can remember! Okay, I need to work up to at least 1 post per week, better planning of outfits the night before, and maybe figuring out a tripod or something so I'm not sneaking to the work bathroom to take a pic LOL!

Monday started off casual to ease back into the work week - I wanted to try this button up shirt I've worn before but it felt too short paired under this sweater -

Tan corduroy pants ended up making this look too matchy matchy - can't even really see the purple checked shirt underneath.
I even forgot about getting a picture, and remembered while I was shopping after work and ducked into a dressing room to sneak a quick pic ^.^ I look tired, I am.

Tuesday brought on some more fuzzyness to keep warm in our ice coldness out. Not used to much "winter" in Western WA, it was 18degrees F this morning -- brrr!

I've worn this with jeans last time, this time with checked brown slacks and brown boots. I'm wondering if I can exchange this for a smaller size - this was a medium at Kohls which normally works, but it's pretty big, I wish it was a size Small.

Okay, here is my 100th post~ Proud of myself, I wanted to keep track of my outfits and learn new ways to wear them so I'd not get bored and just shop for new stuff all the time, and so far not so bad. Not to keep it up!

Thinking outside my box

Actually pretty proud of myself for thinking outside my box. I bought this black sweater and aside from knowing I could wear with jeans on the weekends, the only thing I could think of at first was to pair with maybe gray slacks for work. Boring, but bought it bc I wanted a black sweater.

Finally wore to work but actually paired with a pencil skirt, in maroon! Go me for thinking outside my little box!

Sleeping in late = quick and easy style

My goal this week was/is to wear things I havne't yet.. bc I spot sales or "must have items" and then don't wear them.. Stupid I know.

This morning was a sleepy-don't want to get out of bed-morning, so just grabbed this easy blue tunic length sweater out I found on black friday.

A little Springy-colors, with a blue-green necklace, skinny jeans and flats.. ponytail and done...

Not that fashionable, but comfortable and accomplishing my mission of wearing my clothes finally :D

I found these earrings on Amazon this week after the cover of Lucky had a pair of pink pearl drop earrings they were advertising... I was \this close\ to buying them, but didn't understand the site... like a monthly $30 per month jewelry club you had to be a member of and get every month.... to much for me -- what if i hate the items?? So went a googling and Voila!

And yes I already started to changed into pajama bottoms so you get the top only :D

I usually pair this sleeveless pink top with a black/grey checked blazer I have, but wanted to wear my black/grey herringbone slacks, so opted for black sweater coat instead.

Added pink dragonfly pendant to the front (with a safety pin :O -- and off to work on a Friday afternoon.

Why are pants so long?

I don't qualify as short enough (or inseam short enough!) to wear petites. I'm about 5'4" on the dot, but petite sizes give me a cut above the ankle... yet regular slacks lately are soooo long that even with my 4" heel, the pant leg still goes well below my shoe.. really??? And they were so cute too.

Oh there you are! At least I have some other ideas to pair these with! Found last week at DSW adn love the 3 buttons up the side! (A nice change from the ruffles I don't really like on my foot.)

Warm and Cozy Sweaters

How to stay warm - layer thick warm and cozy sweater. Add tights and tall boots.... wait I don't need that much layers or warmth, we're still in the 50s here in Wet Washington. But still cozy and warm in our air-conditioned office!

I found this sweater coat a couple years ago at JC Penneys and love the brown toggles in the center -- adds a bit of variety to a plain sweater coat.

Paired over brown tee-shirt, flower necklace, brown tights, denim skirt and brown riding boots.

dress down a black dress....

This black dress is on the outs.. I don't love the fabric, the top gapes open and I don't like the length.. I'll probably try and shorten the hem and try one last time before going in the give-away box.

I wanted to try the "dress down a little black dress idea" and had this jean jacket hanging over this dress for a while in the closet. finally tried it with blue and silver tights, and black boots. Added beaded necklace and a few bangles to finish off the dress down.

I don't hate the look, but don't like it enough to wear again. Definitely won't try this dress again before I get a chance to change the hem.

I took half a dozen pictures, and could NOT get this purple corduroy coat to come out, or the brown/cream pants.

I already felt the mix was a fail, I copied an idea from a magazine, but didn't like the pieces put together, but now even the camera doesn't want to take the evidence either.

Sleeveless shirt in Winter!

This sleeveless sweater I have worn a couple summers in a row, but have never thought to pair it with a jacket for winter! I realized with all the stripes in style, that I already had a suit jacket I could turn the cuffs up on, and then paired with this gold chain necklace and gold bangles! Yay new outfit!

I had a bunch of errands to run around at lunch, so wanted to just wear flats, so skinny jeans would allow me to not trip over my feet, then just wore ballet flats to work. I felt like this was a win for remixing!

Vest!

I have worn this white shirt before (from new-port news) on it's own and with the equestrian coat from newport-news. I don't really recommend it based on it's thinness, but if you have it, it is a great layering piece and I love the lace cuffs!

Wednesday I paired the White shirt with this grey vest I purchased a few weeks ago from (Kohls! What do I own stock there?? No, it just happens to be right down my street, d'oh!) Grey and purple beaded necklace, black slacks.

Furry Fuzzy and Warm!

I like this vest (another Kohls black-friday find) - the colors in it are subtle enough but look great with browns, cream, greys! I've worn this with the cream turtleneck shown left on Tuesday, but with a brown turtleneck Saturday. When I originally tried the vest on at the store, I had a grey sweater on which looked good with it as well. I do love that I can match this with more then just one layered shirt color!

I found this grey sweater topper with black belt on sale (during black friday) at Kohls for $14.99! too excited!

For work on a tired Monday I just paired with basic black slacks, not too much fun, but hopefully I'll think of more ideas (Sunday I paired with blue jeans and black boots, which looked much better!).

This was the last week of boss being out of town and it's just so easy to want to wear jeans every day (Especially when there is only one other coworker in our entire organization - no one to see you on a day to day basis).
Wednesday, so tired, barely slept, so just grabbed what was on the top shelf - orange sweater again, just grabbed some tan corduroys and brown suede jacket.

Thursday, I had a sick child, so grabbed something easy again, but thought I'd show my coat I got last May from Wilson's - I love the pleated bottom!

So, I not only lost one button on my jacket today, I lost 2! Monday strikes again.

Sunday Sunday

Sunday is generally football watching day and Grocery shopping day.

If our team is playing, I'm usually in my jeans and team sweatshirt if it's cold (which it is!) or team jersey.

Otherwise, I'm in typical sweaters or tees the same as work - I don't own sweats, or velour, or yoga gear, and I always wear makeup and do something with my hair. I pretty much have since 8th grade so can't fathom how so many celebrity's are caught looking like purple eyed, messy hair, just rolled out of bed look - I can't imagine leaving the house like that!

Today just casual since i'm just going grocery shopping and hanging around the house. So tied my hair back in a pony tail and tied a ribbon around it.

Wanted to wear my new boots from DSW I bought last night, so opted to go a little matchy-matchy today. Orange sweater (on sale at Target for $18!) white cami, and jeans.

I'm actually procrastinating, and have 3 more meals to figure out! Hope everyone is enjoying their day today!

Lace Top - lots of color options

when I bought this top from Target, my initial reaction was to pair with a black camisole underneath (which I did this weekend too!)

But on Friday, I realized any color can go underneath - so started with a pink camisole, and paired with an antiquey pink shaded brooch.

I might go white next, but red could be seductive for a night out, or purple.

I love coming up with new ideas!

I took Friday off mainly because the girls had no school that day - it was just an extra bonus it was my birthday as well!
The day started off poorly - two hours of sleep, a cold, and just not feeling well. Finally managed to fall asleep at 7:30am, and slept until just after noon (the girls are 11 and 9, definitely kept themselves occupied a few hours with me napping).

Eventually managed to head out for lunch with my girls, shopping, then off to iceskating and our favorite pub for dinner.

Opted to go with purple again, wanted to wear the purple dangly earrings, but just paired with jeans and zebra flats and a cuff bracelet. Nice and easy for a day out with the girls and sick to boot.

A Little Birthday Inspiration

I found this outfit in a magazine earlier this spring and set it aside for my Birthday Outfit. The picture doesn't show up too great, but it's a purple Tee, White jacket, red belt, dark grey/or dark blue pants, and red shoes. Now, today isn't my birthday, tomorrow is, but I wanted to wear this to work and I have tomorrow off (kids non-student day). I have been looking forward to this all year, but in the end my white jacket I didn't like the big shoulder pads on, I could not find a skinny red belt anywhere, my tiara looked funny with the earrings I wanted to wear, and I didn't like my red round-toe shoes with the outfit. So.... not quire what I pictured, but the end result was cute.
